Architectural Rendering

When it comes to producing world class architectural renderings the team at F9 Productions are seasoned veterans and experts. We routinely work hand in hand with some of Colorado’s largest architectural firms to help their clients visualize their projects with the utmost care and detail. Unlike many of the other guys, we take the extra steps in our renderings to make them stand out from the crowd and put you, the clients into the spaces to get the best feel possible before construction even takes place.

In addition, we, unlike many architectural rendering firms are based right here in the US and here to answer your concerns immediately during YOUR business day.

The best part is we can take all these extra steps with very competitive fees which are, on average, 25% to 50% less than competing U.S. based rendering firms.
Here’s a recent client’s take on our rendering services:

"F9 created a visually stunning set of renderings for the Longmont Museum's new Auditorium capital campaign. This work has been critical in helping potential funders visualize that this is a state-of-the-art space that will be a major resource in our community. F9 assisted us every step of the way in making modifications to some of the initial drafts and provided valuable direction for some of the more difficult spaces."

THE RENDERING PROCESS

Step 1 - Scope of Work and Quoting

We take pride in getting to know and understand our clients visual expectations by first meeting with them to discuss their architectural project.  During our discussion we go over many things such as: project description, goals, location, current CAD or hand-drawn content, final aesthetic expectations, etc.

After our initial meeting we thoughtfully consider how we can achieve our clients expectations while maintaining a cost-competitive architectural rendering budget.  A detailed proposal is then delivered to the client for review, negotiation,  and hopefully agreement in order to commence the rendering process.

Step 2 - Model Build/Cleanup and Initial Scene Selection

In some cases we need to build an architectural model for our clients from scratch and other times they are able to provide us an initial one to work from.  In the latter case we only need to clean it up for rendering purposes but in either case we are as facile modeling as we are rendering.

We then spend some time carefully placing multiple cameras throughout the architectural model and exporting initial scene drafts similar to those pictured on the right.  Selecting the most eye pleasing and captivating camera view point is critical and we pride ourselves in finding the best options available to our clients.

Step 3 - Lighting, Material Drafts, and Client Commentary

After the initial scene or scenes have been selected we then test  various lighting schemes on the architectural model.  Depending on your preference, we may be testing lighting during the morning, afternoon, night, and even fully artificial.  We can deliver our clients almost any kind of architectural lighting scene possible

Next we establish the initial material palette based on the clients direction and intention.  We can replicate nearly any type of architectural building material on today's market and also pride ourselves on creating new materials using advanced Photoshop techniques.  Finally we deliver an initial draft of the architectural scene with lighting and materials for client commentary and in-house tweaking thereafter until the materials and lighting are satisfactory.

Step 4 - Initial Entourage and Client Commentary

After the material palette has been established we then begin to add entourage into the scene.  How exactly we populate your architectural rendering with cars, vegetation, people, etc. depends on each individual scene but our extensive entourage library allows us to capture nearly every type of landscape or building type imaginable.

We then deliver your rendering for commentary on the initial entourage.  Here we work hand in hand with you, the client, in order to steer the individual pieces of entourage: cars, people, trees, furniture, etc in the direction that best suits the architectural rendering.

Step 5 - Finalization and The Extra Steps

Last but certainly not least, we begin to take the extra steps necessary to put your architectural rendering above the crowd.  We truly believe that the best renderings have the most detail and care within them even if those details are sometimes not so obvious.

Details such as: individual blades of grass, leaves, birds, stars, entourage interaction, cracks in the concrete, subtle reflections, dreamy filters, etc.  While our competitors may stop at step 4 we go beyond that and with a little extra effort are able to deliver you, the client, a beautifully detailed, photo-realistic, and hand crafted architectural rendering that hopefully exceeds your final expectations.
